It’s Spring and the World is Filled with Pussy Willows, Daffodils, and Leprechauns!

Springtime Magic
A little seed
For me to sow…
A little earth
To make it grow…
A little hole
A little pat…

A little wish
And that is that,
A little sunA little shower
A little while…
And then a flower!

Spring is Here
The tune is a simple falling
minor third melody (yoo-hoo!)

Spring is here,
Spring is here
How do you think I know?
Flowers are blooming
I know it must be so.

Spring is here,
Spring is here
How do you think I know?
Birds are singing
I know it must be so.

A Little Yellow Cup
(To the tune of Clementine)
A little yellow cup
A little yellow frill
A little yellow star
And that’s a daffodil!

This is Leprechaun Happy
This is leprechaun happy.
This is leprechaun sad.
Now you see him sleepy.
Now you see him mad.
This is leprechaun with shamrocks small.
But with his gold
He’s best of all!

Leprechaun
I caught a little leprechaun
One lovely March day.
He told me tales of treasure
Before he dashed away.

A Little Irish Man: Leprechaun
A little Irish man
In a little green hat
At the end of the rainbow
On a pot of gold he sat …

March
“March comes in
Like a lion
And goes out
 Like a lamb.

Lambs At Play
On the grassy banks<
Lambkins at their pranks;
Wooly sisters, wooly brothers,
Jumping off their feet
While their wooly mothers
Watch them and bleat.

Christina Rossetti

Lo, the Winter is Past
For, lo, the winter is past,
The rain is over and gone;
The flowers appear on the earth;
The time of the signing of birds is come,
And the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.

The Bible

I Know a Little Pussy
I know a little pussy,
Her coat is silver grey,
She lives down in the meadow,
Not very far away.
Although she is a pussy,
She'll never be a cat,
For she's a pussy willow,
Now what do you think of that?

The Time Has Come
"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes—and ships—and sealing-wax—
Of cabbages—and kings—
And why the sea is boiling hot—
And whether pigs have wings."

Lewis Carroll

Pussy Willow
Tiny little pussy willow
Softer than a baby’s pillow
Sometimes when I stroke your fur
I almost hear you purr.

Daffodowndilly
She wore her yellow sun-bonnet
She wore her greenest gown;
She turned to the south wind
And curtsied up and down.
She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbor:
“Winter is dead.”

AA Milne

Spring
The air is like a butterfly
With frail blue wings.
The happy earth looks at the sky
And sings.

Joyce Kilmer

Pussy WIllows
Close your eyes
And do not peek
And I’ll rub Spring
Across your cheek-
Smooth as satin,
Soft and sleek-
Close your eyes
And do not peek.
