Parents as Partners: Pledge Allegiance to the Flag

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

Your child is learning to recite and sign The Pledge of Allegiance. Using Sign Language helps children better understand the meaning of words and concepts as they are reciting.

Attached is an American Sign Language (ASL) guide so that you can see how we are practicing at school. If you want to learn this pledge along with your child, see the free instructional video clip of The Pledge of Allegiance in Sign Language.

We plan to let our kindergarten children sign The Pledge of Allegiance at a school assembly as soon as they can perform it with confidence. Won’t that be a proud experience!

Thank you for being partners with us in meaningful and joyful kindergarten literacy.

Smiles from your child’s teachers!
